CSB MEMBER UPDATE
There has been much reporting over recent weeks about the significant staffing cuts and restructure at Cricket Victoria. You will no doubt be aware that their Community Cricket department has borne the brunt of those cuts.
This is a devasting result for grass roots cricket in Victoria and the hardworking volunteers who work tirelessly to deliver the game.
Recent press reports have also flagged that Cricket Southern Bayside Operations Manager, Darren Anderson, has been assigned a new role at Cricket Victoria supporting Premier Cricket. The same reporting also notes that Cricket Victoria will not be replacing Darren or supporting the Cricket Southern Bayside Operations Manager role. Those reports are correct.
The Cricket Southern Bayside Board was only recently formally advised of this outcome by Cricket Victoria, notwithstanding that the decision was made some weeks ago, and disappointingly that decision was made without any consultation.
The Cricket Southern Bayside Board does not accept this decision and has responded to Cricket Victoria accordingly.
As a result, a delegation of the Cricket Southern Bayside Board recently met with senior management at Cricket Victoria to personally convey our concerns and our expectations that our Service Level Agreement with Cricket Victoria be honoured. We have agreed to meet again as we endeavour to find a solution. The Board will not accept any solution that fails to deliver the level of service and experience that our members not only are accustomed to but signed up for.
Cricket Southern Bayside members were the first, and only, members of the metropolitan cricket community to actively support Cricket Victoria’s Metropolitan Cricket Strategy. We have shown that our model of putting our participants at the centre of everything we do works. We believe that this support should be rewarded.
We are proud of what we have achieved together over the last four years and take pride in the fact that we are the most progressive, diverse and fastest growing cricket association in Victoria, if not Australia. Rest assured that the Cricket Southern Bayside Board will continue to take whatever measures are necessary to stand up for our Member Clubs, their players, volunteers and supporters.
